Half Lord of the Fishes Pose
The Half Lord of the Fishes Pose, or Ardha Matsyendrasana, is a beginner-friendly yoga twist that gently stretches your lower back, hips, and legs while improving spinal mobility. It’s simple but highly effective for releasing tension after sitting or standing for long periods.
Begin by sitting on the floor with your legs extended straight in front of you. Bend your right knee and place your right foot on the outside of your left thigh. Keep your left leg extended or bend the left knee for comfort. Inhale to lengthen your spine, then exhale and gently twist your torso to the right, placing your right hand behind you for support. Bring your left elbow to the outside of your right knee, using it to deepen the twist slightly.
Hold the pose for 20–30 seconds while breathing deeply. Return to center and repeat on the other side. This pose stretches the lower back and legs, improves posture, and promotes flexibility and relaxation.
