The Russian Twist with Weights is a beginner-friendly, full-body exercise that strengthens your abs, obliques, core, shoulders, back, and even your lower legs. Using light hand weights adds resistance, making the movement more effective while still accessible for beginners.
Start by sitting on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat. Hold a lightweight with both hands close to your chest. Lean back slightly, keeping your back straight and your core engaged. Lift your feet a few inches off the floor if comfortable, or keep them planted for more stability.
Slowly twist your torso to the right, moving the weight beside your hip. Then twist to the left, keeping the motion controlled and deliberate. Avoid rounding your back or using momentum—focus on engaging your core throughout.
Repeat for 8–12 twists per side, breathing steadily. This exercise improves core strength, tones the midsection, and enhances rotational stability.
