Child’s Pose is a gentle stretch that helps relax the body, release tension, and calm the mind. It is often used as a resting posture in yoga and is suitable for all levels.
Begin on your hands and knees in a tabletop position, with your wrists under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Slowly bring your big toes together and widen your knees slightly for comfort. Gently shift your hips back and lower them toward your heels. As you do this, walk your hands forward and lower your torso between your thighs.
Allow your forehead to rest on the mat, a block, or your hands. Relax your shoulders and let your arms extend forward or rest alongside your body. Take slow, deep breaths, allowing your back and hips to soften with each exhale.
Stay in Child’s Pose for 30 seconds to several minutes, focusing on breathing and relaxation.
